Body contouring is typically focused on shape and silhouette, while weight loss focuses on overall body weight and broader wellness goals.
A consultation is the best way to review your goals, treatment areas, and whether a surgical or non-surgical approach is more appropriate.
Yes. Treatment planning should be tailored to your body goals, anatomy, and target areas.
Depending on the service, one or more areas may be evaluated as part of your treatment plan.

MAGIC MIRROR MEDSPA · PATIENT GUIDE
A consultation is most useful when you know whether you are seeking a change in weight, localized shape, or loose skin. Those goals call for different conversations.
A contouring consultation focuses on the shape of a particular area. A medical weight-loss consultation focuses on health, weight management, and an ongoing plan. One is not a substitute for the other.
Tell the team whether your main concern is a localized bulge, loose skin, a change after weight loss, or overall weight. If you are still planning significant weight changes, discuss how that affects the timing of any contouring decision.
Liposuction is a surgical procedure, even when described as minimally invasive. Ask which areas could be treated, who performs the procedure, where it takes place, what anesthesia is involved, and what follow-up is provided. Confirm the available approach directly with the practice before making arrangements.
Important risks include infection, contour irregularities, fluid-related complications, blood clots, and anesthesia risks. Review the American Society of Plastic Surgeons’ safety information and discuss your personal risk with the treating clinician.
Removing fat does not automatically resolve every concern about skin or contour. Ask what changes the proposed treatment is expected to create and what it will leave unchanged. If volume restoration or a skin procedure is suggested, ask for a separate explanation of its purpose, recovery, and additional cost.
Use photographs to communicate the area you notice, while keeping the discussion centered on your own anatomy. A result shown for someone else cannot establish what is achievable for you.
Discuss work, childcare, exercise, transport, and travel. Ask whether you will need help at home, compression garments, activity restrictions, or in-person follow-up. These requirements depend on the procedure and should be understood before booking.
Share medicines, supplements, smoking or nicotine use, past procedures, and healing concerns. Do not change prescribed medicines independently. Request written preparation and aftercare instructions from the treating team.
Ask for a written breakdown of procedure fees, anesthesia or facility fees if relevant, garments, and follow-up. Confirm which items are included and what may cost extra. A low starting price does not describe the whole commitment.
If you are unsure which service fits, request a body-contouring consultation and describe your concern rather than choosing a procedure in advance. You can review the practice’s provider information and the service menu before your visit.
