KYBELLA in Bozeman: A Non-Surgical Treatment for Under-Chin Fullness

For some patients, fullness under the chin does not improve with diet, exercise, or weight changes. This area, often called submental fullness, can affect the appearance of the jawline and facial profile.

KYBELLA® is an injectable treatment used to improve the appearance of moderate to severe submental fullness in appropriate candidates. At Magic Mirror MedSpa in Bozeman, KYBELLA consultations help determine whether this treatment fits your anatomy and goals.

What Causes a Double Chin?

Submental fullness can be influenced by:

  • Genetics
  • Aging
  • Weight changes
  • Facial structure
  • Skin laxity
  • Fat distribution

Not every “double chin” concern is caused by fat alone. Some patients have skin laxity, muscle position, or anatomy that requires a different approach. That is why consultation matters.

How Does KYBELLA Work?

KYBELLA is designed to target fat beneath the chin. Your provider will evaluate whether the fullness is appropriate for injectable treatment and create a customized plan.

Some patients may need more than one treatment session to reach their desired result.

KYBELLA vs. Liposuction

KYBELLA is non-surgical and may appeal to patients who want an injectable option. Liposuction may be more appropriate for patients who want more immediate or dramatic fat reduction in certain areas.

The best option depends on the amount of fullness, skin quality, anatomy, recovery preferences, and treatment goals.

Who Is a Good Candidate?

You may be a candidate for KYBELLA if you have under-chin fullness caused by fat and want a non-surgical treatment. You may not be a good candidate if your concern is primarily loose skin or if another treatment would better address your anatomy.

What to know about treatment and recovery

KYBELLA contains deoxycholic acid and is approved for adults with moderate to severe fullness from fat beneath the chin. It is not approved as a general treatment for fat in other body areas. Your provider should evaluate skin laxity and other possible causes of fullness before recommending injections.

Treatment may require a series rather than one visit. The prescribing information allows up to six treatments, spaced at least one month apart; your plan may be shorter or may not be appropriate at all. Ask about the anticipated total cost and schedule before starting.

Discuss safety before choosing KYBELLA

Swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of firmness are common. Swelling can be noticeable, so discuss timing before an important event. Serious risks include jaw nerve injury that can cause an uneven smile, trouble swallowing, and injection-site tissue injury or ulcers.

Tell your provider about previous neck or chin procedures, swallowing problems, bleeding concerns, and all medications. KYBELLA should not be injected into an infected treatment area. Follow the practice’s aftercare instructions and contact your provider promptly about swallowing problems, an uneven smile, open sores, or drainage.

Frequently asked questions

Does KYBELLA treat loose skin?

No. KYBELLA targets submental fat, not skin laxity.

How many KYBELLA treatments will I need?

The number of treatments varies based on the amount of fullness and your goals.

Is KYBELLA surgery?

No. KYBELLA is an injectable treatment, not a surgical procedure.
